A specialist recruitment company has found jobs for more than 10,000 office staff in its 15 year history – including one for a fish sales adviser.

Rhuddlan-based Letterbox Recruiting received the unusual request from a pet shop company and although outside their usual remit, the team rose to the challenge and found them the perfect candidate.

Founder Linda Gummer said: “It was one of our oldest clients, Farm and Pet Place, and they needed someone with the skills to provide high levels of care for tropical fish and luckily we managed to find just the person to fill the role.”

Letterbox held a special 15th birthday party to celebrate the anniversary and Dr James Davies, Conservative MP for Vale of Clwyd, was the guest of honour.

The company specialises in office and executive recruitment from entry level to the boardroom for companies across North Wales and Cheshire, including such well-known names as award-winning builders Anwyl Construction, K&C Group, Welsh Slate and Conwy County Borough Council.

Dr Davies said: “Businesses like Letterbox are critical to the area, not only in terms of the people they employ themselves but in getting local people into work and helping local businesses find the skills they need.

“We have seen a fall in the number of people claiming Job Seekers Allowance in the Vale of Clwyd constituency recently and companies like Letterbox are contributing to that.

“It’s vital that our economy becomes more diverse with more jobs in the private sector and Letterbox are supporting that by finding jobs for specialists and specialists for companies.”

The company has just taken on two extra staff at its headquarters in High Street, Rhuddlan, and now employs seven people including Managing Director Natalie Wood, from Bodelwyddan, a law graduate who has found her own ideal job in recruitment.

She said: “We have helped over 10,000 people find jobs since we started and that means we have helped companies fill over 10,000 posts.

“The jobs market is looking very good at the moment and the temporary desk in particular is really buoyant.

“Since the summer, it’s been going through the roof and of course many people only want temporary work.

“It is a very competitive market because people are looking for the best talent but we are specialists in our field which is quite niche and sets us apart from other recruitment agencies in the area”.

Linda, from Upper Colwyn Bay, said: “It’s very rewarding as well when you’re able to find people a job because for young people in particular you could be launching them on a career and to be able to help a business to grow.

“We’ve never just been a temping agency. We specialise in finding people the right jobs and we have to please both employer and employee.

“We work with large and small businesses and with organisations like public bodies and one of the people for whom we found a job is now a client with his own business.”
