An expanding leisure company is doubling in size by opening one of the biggest hot tub show rooms in the UK.

Boss Gareth Jones revealed the growth of UK Leisure Living was being fuelled by the increasing popularity of solar-powered hot tubs and their growing popularity at holiday parks and cottages.

According to Gareth, it’s a marriage made in business heaven because the company is part of the Carbon Zero Group which also includes a renewable energy arm that sells and installs solar panels amongst other things.

The new showroom at The Creamery in Mochdre, near Colwyn Bay, will be officially launched on the Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20.

At over 2,220sq ft, it’s twice the size of their existing premises on the same business park.

The news has been welcomed by Anna Openshaw, the manager of the Colwyn Business Improvement District (BID) – the biggest in the UK – which includes Old Colwyn, Colwyn Bay, Mochdre and Rhos-on-Sea.

The BID is a not-for-profit social enterprise where firms pay a levy and the cash raised is used for projects to increase trade.

Mrs Openshaw said: “This excellent news is great for the local economy.

“The Carbon Zero Group is a go-ahead operation and the hot tubs business is going great guns.

“It’s exactly the kind of growth that will help re-energise the Bay of Colwyn.”

He says the booming business had taken on an extra four members of staff in the past three months, taking the total headcount to 15.

Gareth added: “In our first year we sold just under 100 tubs, and this year we’re on our way to selling around 150.

“I think they’ve become more and more popular because they’ve become more affordable and they are becoming a must-have for holiday parks and cottages.

“That side of the business is taking off big time and we do a lot of work with many of the top lodge parks like Plas Coch on Anglesey and Hafan Y mor in Gwynedd, as well as many of the small independents and holiday cottage businesses including one of the UK’s largest holiday cottage companies Sykes.

“One of the reasons we’ve moved to bigger premises is because we have been chosen by the world’s largest hot tub manufacturer, to become one of their dealers. Hot Springs are owned by Watkins who have been in business 40 years and have sold over one million hot tubs worldwide.

“They’re based in America and they’re now complementing our extensive range which means we have hot tubs and swim spas to suit every budget, with hot tubs starting at £2,750 and available for delivery within 7 days.

“We’re going to have between 15 and 16 hot tubs and a swim spa on display at any one time.

“The showroom will be one of the biggest in the UK and probably the biggest in Wales, and we’re going to be open seven days a week.

“As well as the local market, we’re hopefully going to attract people from across the border from Cheshire, Manchester, and Liverpool.

“It’s a hugely exciting time and we’ve got our launch event on the 19th and the 20th of August, so we’re going to have some special offers on with up to 50 per cent off some of our Hot Springs Spas.

“UK Leisure Living is part of the Carbon Zero Group, which is essentially a number of complementary companies and we’re approved by Which magazine as a trusted trader so it gives consumers confidence in who they’re buying from.

“It may sound counter-intuitive but the hot tubs and the renewables side of the business go well together.

“An increasing number of our hot tubs customers also have solar panels and the news that British Gas is putting up the price of electricity by 12 per cent is going to accelerate that trend.

“The new showroom essentially gives us a launch pad for the next stage of growth for the business and we’re looking to take on more staff in the future as we develop further our already busy servicing and maintenance team.”
