A fast-growing Wrexham village football club where Wales and Manchester United legend Mark Hughes played as a boy has invested over £200,000 on its facilities and has now added its first girls side to its impressive roster of youth teams.

Sparky Hughes went on to a glittering career after his skills were nurtured at Ponciau Banks where more recently Wrexham and Wales midfielder Mark Jones also caught the eye of the Racecourse scouts.

Now a new generation of youngsters are attracting attention for Rhos Aelwyd who field ten sides in the Wrexham Junior League with well over 100 youngsters training and playing at their Ponciau ground every week.

That’s up from two teams just five years ago and they have also invested in a new 160-square foot storage unit from Denbigh-based Container Sales Centre to keep all their balls, nets, training cones, corner flags and the rest of the paraphernalia of a football club watertight and secure.

Club chairman George Jones said: “The club is really growing and we’ve invested in it at every level with the girls team the latest addition and we now have more gear to keep securely so we have had a new storage unit which was delivered here.

“The club started as a youth team in 1943 but numbers had fallen until we got the youth section going again five years ago and we seem to be adding more sides every year.

“It’s good to see so many local youngsters down here every week again and we have dedicated coaches helping them out from Under-7s up to Under-15s.”

CSC sales consultant Lisa James said: “The club is really busy and it’s great to see so many young people down here making use of the facilities.

“They run so many sides that I can understand why they needed the extra storage space and as well as local sports clubs, schools and leisure and recreational facilities, many businesses and charities are finding them a perfect solution.”

CSC specialise in the sale of new and used shipping containers which range in size from 10-feet long up through 20-footers to 40-foot units, all eight feet high and eight feet wide, from 640 to 2,560 cubic feet in volume.

Lisa added: “Containers are versatile and an advantage of buying outright is that you can also paint the exterior to your own taste including having your club or company branding on it.

“Our units have been used to house a flight simulator and even as an indoor coffee bar and with our specialist lorry we can deliver containers up to 40 feet long and can also arrange to move units to different site locations.”

CSC supply a variety of containers including new wind and watertight, used wind and watertight and used in need of repair and prices range from £900 for small pre-used units needing repair through used wind and watertight units to new ones with the prices ranging between £2,000-£4,500 and delivery can be arranged to most places in the UK.
