One of North Wales’s longest-established law firms has just recruited four new legal eagles as it continues to expand.

Swayne Johnson, which has a base in St Asaph and offices across North Wales and into Cheshire, can trace its origins back to the beginning of the 19th century but is also one of the fastest growing firms of solicitors in the region.

It is also notable for the number of women it employs among a staff of over 50 from Managing Director Sarah Noton down and for the breadth of its legal expertise which include two of only three Court of Protection Deputies in Wales.

Their newest recruits are trainee solicitor Angharad Griffiths, from Holyhead, and legal assistants Nicola Maddock, from Mynydd Isa, Emma Mitchell, Llandudno, and Eifion Blease, from Penrhyn Bay.

Welsh speaker Angharad, who graduated in law at the University of the West of England in Bristol, has joined the property team at Swayne Johnson’s Llandudno office.

Nicola Maddock, who graduated with a first class degree in Law from Bangor University in 2021, has worked for North Wales Police and before that had her own beauty business.

She is a keen sportswoman and coaches football at Mynydd Isa where she still plays occasionally and she is also a cyclist who has done charity rides for a number of good causes.

Nicola will be based at Swayne Johnson’s St Asaph headquarters in the Court of Protection team alongside fellow recruits Emma Mitchell and Eifion Blease.

Emma originally from Essex, has worked for a fertiliser company and previously as a court usher in Kings Lynn and Chester.

She and her husband have a German Shepherd dog and she also crochets and donates blankets she makes to local dogs homes.

Eifion, also a Welsh speaker and a former chief reporter with the North Wales Pioneer in Colwyn Bay, takes part in amateur dramatics and researches genealogy.

Sarah Noton said: “We’re delighted to make four more high calibre appointments as we continue an expansion which has seen us grow from two offices to five in the last 12 years.

“We know that within Swayne Johnson we have lawyers with a wealth of experience in all aspects of legal work and that makes this a very good environment for those who join us.

“We offer a comprehensive range of services across a wide area of law and we have the kind of high-quality expertise that means clients don’t need to look to firms from outside the area for the legal skills they need.

“At Swayne Johnson we believe in building relationships with our clients and providing them with the reassurance that they’re dealing with people who know and understand them.”
