A RAPIDLY expanding womenswear chain has created five new jobs with the opening of its latest store in Wrexham.

Roman, a family-run business which trades from high streets and outlet villages right across Britain, has 150 shops and in-store concessions across the UK.

The newest of these is at the Eagles Meadow shopping centre, which a senior manager says the company has chosen specifically because of its busy atmosphere and line-up of top end stores.

Roman first marched on to the high street 20 years ago with a string of concessions within major stores.

It was so successful that it was soon opening its own stores, initially in outlet centres nationwide and then later in a growing network of high street shops dotted throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Roman merchandises and distributes its ranges using its own skilled team, allowing the company to respond quickly to changes in fashion trends.

On offer at the new Eagles Meadow store will be extensive ranges of day and evening wear.

Trudie Riley-Dyche, who is manager in charge of Roman’s new store openings, said: “We’re so excited to have our latest store at Eagles Meadow, which is a fantastic centre with very good footfall and a history of having an excellent range of fashion retailers.

“We feel our new store will complement the great retail mix which is already in place there.”

Trudie added: “We’re also delighted to have created five new jobs, including the roles of manager, assistant manager and three sales advisers, which we see as a bonus for the area.

“Although we have stores across most of the rest of Britain this is the first time we have had a presence in Wrexham and everyone is looking forward very much to the prospect of welcoming new customers at Eagles Meadow.”

Following an extensive refit, the new Roman store was launched with a bucks fizz reception for shoppers and a ribbon cutting by new manager Karen Thomas.

Karen, from Ellesmere Port, brings with her over 30 years’ experience in retail.

She said: “We’re delighted to be opening the latest Roman store at Eagles Meadow which, like our own company, has a great reputation for stylish shops selling quality goods.

“It’s very exciting to be here right at the start and myself, along with my assistant manager Nicky Thomas, and our three sales advisers are looking forward to meeting and getting to know our new customers.

“We have a wide range of clothing, with many items being made in the UK.”

Eagles Meadow manager Kevin Critchley said: “We’re delighted to welcome Roman to Eagles Meadow as they will be a great complement to the already extensive range of fashion outlets we have.

“Their arrival just underlines that Wrexham is the retail capital of North Wales – it’s great news for the town in general and Eagles Meadow in particular.”
